Things to do in Cornwall this June
Share
We are quietly (but quite hopefully) wishing this run of very good weather carries on into June…. Because when Cornwall decides to show off, it really does it properly.
June always feels like a bit of a sweet spot. Not too busy, not too sleepy. Everything just ticking along nicely, with those longer evenings that make you feel like you’ve got more time than you actually do.
And the sunsets this time of year….. they’re not subtle are they.
One minute its all soft and hazy and the next the whole sky’s gone completely over the top, streaks of orange, pink & blue….. the kind that make you stop what you’re doing and just sit there for a minute (usually saying something like “ok, WOW! that’s ridiculous!”)
If you do feel like getting out and about in June, here are a few things happening, plus a few of our favourite no-plan plans...
12th-14th June
Falmouth Sea Shanty Festival
This one’s a bit special. It’s actually one of the largest free nautical music festivals in Europe, with 80+ groups performing all over the town, pubs, quays, little corners you’d normally walk straight past.
Don’t over plan it, the best bits are the ones you stumble across!

19th-28th June
Golowan Festival, Penzance
A proper Cornish celebration, A bit chaotic in the very best way, very colourful, lots going on- Giant sculptures, street parades, music & dancing, If you’ve never been its worth it just to see Mazey Day.
Around 21st June
Summer Solstice
There’s always something slightly magical about this one. The longest day, that lingering light that doesn’t seem to end, and the perfect time to be outside a little longer than usual.
It’s one of those days to grab the sunrise, or if that’s a little ambitious, a slow evening that rolls into one of those long dusky sunsets.
5th-7th June
Tunes in the Dunes, Perranporth
Music on the beach, quite literally. A proper stage set right on the beach with big names mixed with some smaller ones, what a backdrop to have the sea right beside you.
Not a free one, but you’ll definitely feel the buzz around Perranporth that weekend even if you’re just passing through. It tends to spill out a bit, on to the beach, the town, everywhere just a little more lively than usual.
4th-5th June
Royal Cornwall Show
Big, busy and very Cornish!
Think, livestock, tractors, local food & show tents- a bit of everything all in one place. You’ll walk far more than you planned, eat well and come away having seen things you didn’t expect to!

And then, honestly the best bits:
Evening beach walks
No plan, no rush. Just that soft light, the sea doing its thing, and if you time it right, one of those sunsets.
Harbour sitting (underrated but elite)
Coffee, ice cream, chips, sit somewhere and watch the world go by. That’s the whole plan.
Coastal path wander
Pick a bit, walk it, turn around when you feel like it, no pressure, just enjoy that spectacular view.
Sea swims
Cold, yes. Regret for about 10 seconds then weirdly addictive.
Gallery hopping in St Ives
In and out, no pressure, no agenda. Just a nice way to spend an hour or two.
We’ll be in the shop as always, pottering about, chatting, wrapping things up nicely, probably discussing the weather like it’s a full-time job!
Pop in if you’re nearby, or just wave through the doors!
