Mastering the Art of Soy Wax Candle Burning
Share
Inspired by the wild beauty of the Cornish Coastline, our Hand poured Soy wax Candles are designed to elevate your space with understated luxury and a touch of coastal charm.
Our soy wax is a natural, eco friendly option that offers a cleaner burn and longer lasting fragrance. While it can sometimes be unpredictable leading to uneven burns or tunnelling- it’s well worth the extra care.
With a few simple tips you can ensure your candle burns beautifully, making the most of its pure, long lasting glow and rich fragrance.
Here’s our top tips for the perfect burn every time!
Trim the wick
Trim the wick before lighting- by this we mean before every time you light it! Trim the wick to 5mm above the wax. This helps to prevent flickering & soot build-up, ensuring a cleaner burn & better scent throw. Use a wick trimmer to get the job done with ease & precision Wick Trimmers
The First burn is key.
One of the most common candle mistakes? - Blowing it out too soon! If you extinguish your candle before the top layer of wax has fully melted to an edge it can create a ’Tunnel’ around the wick. From then on the candle will only burn straight down the middle, wasting all that lovely wax around the sides. - The Fix? - Allow your candle to burn for 4 hours on its first use. This sets a ‘memory’ for the wax, helping every future burn stay smooth, even & tunnel free. Going forward we would recommend 3-4 hour burn cycles!
The truth is soy wax can be unpredictable and that's why lots of big companies opt for parrafin. Occasionally soy wax can be left on the side of the jar after a burn cycle, this can be due to a draft, air circulation or even temperature in the room. This isn't a fault, as you continue to burn your soy wax candle, the wax on the side will eventually melt- no waste!
To keep things clean, safe & beautifully fragrant, snuff your candle out after 4 hours, let it cool, trim the wick, & it’ll be ready for it’s next glow.
