Explore the captivating exhibition by visual artist Outi Pieski at the TATE gallery in St. Ives. Delve into Pieski's profound exploration of identity, culture, and environment.
Outi Pieski, a Sámi visual artist hailing from Ohcejohka (Utsjoki), Finland, will present her inaugural large-scale exhibition in the UK.
Pieski's artwork, spanning paintings and installations, delves into various themes, notably the culture and identity of the Sámi people residing in the region of Sápmi, encompassing the northern parts of Scandinavia and the Kola Peninsula in Russia.
Central to many of her projects is the integration of duodji, the traditional craft practices of the Sámi, employing materials such as wood and textile. For Pieski, duodji serves as a means of rejuvenating connections between past and future generations.
Through this evocative exhibition, Pieski prompts contemplation on pressing issues including ancestral return, indigenous people's rights, and the intricate interplay between humans, animals, and nature.

As far as years go, this one has been more stressful that usual for most of us. How many times have you found yourself tense, jaw clenched or just feeling anxious or on the 'low' side. In fact, take a moment right now.. release your jaw, relax your shoulders and shake of any excess tension in your body.. that feels good right?
I can't count the amount of times I have had conversations with friends and family about how weird, on edge and unnerved we all have felt over the last year. If I am honest the anticipation of things reopening and life possibly/maybe going back to normal seems to have us feeling almost the same too. These waves of emotions are what has inspired me to write these 7 stress relieving tips.....

Pouring myself a glass of wine to she deal with another day in lockdown. Jokes, kind of, not really. A glass a day keeps the homeschooling at bay.
Taking lots of walks on the beach, Bertie always likes to make a damn so don’t forget your spade! We are so lucky to have such lovely beaches, we have really been making the most of them, even on the wet and windy days!
Yet another walk.... but we shook it up a bit by walking in the woods we were even lucky enough to see squirrels and ducks!
Ok, so my husband is right, old surfboards can be useful! We took ours down the sand dunes and the kids loved it!
When the weather was really bad stay we stayed in doors and got out the fancy dress box. Bonnie loves to dress up as Elsa and she always tells me to dress up as Olaf!! Yep she is the one having a laugh.
Bertie and Bonnie also love the skate park, obviously you aren’t allowed to go in at the moment. However we have been going up there as they are doing the St Ives one up and watching all the diggers. It’s going to be amazing.
